I have to give WGU Indiana credit. They use a variety if methods to help their students succeed. Every student has a mentor they check in with once a week. They set goals and the mentor helps them with any issues they might have.
While every student has a mentor, so does every class. So, aside from the student's own personal mentor, they also have one for each class that serves as what would be a professor at a traditional university. But WGU Indiana doesn't stop there. They even go so far as to offer motivational packages like the one pictured here that I received some months ago. The extraordinary part is that WGU Indiana even went an extra mile for me.
When I received my motivational package from WGU Indiana, I was pretty shocked. It actually had more in it than what is pictured here, but I shared with another college student I know. The only problem with the package I received was the fact that my coffee cup was broken. Included in the package was a postcard for me to return to the school. I had to fill it out so they could send me the size tshirt that I needed. So, on the postcard I took a chance and mentioned the broken coffee cup.
Today I received the tshirt as well as the coffee cup. Just when I thought this school couldn't impress me any more, they went that extra mile.
The coffee cup isn't such a big deal, right? Wrong. After dealing with Ivy Tech and IUSB, it's refreshing to be a part of a school that listens to its students, even if the issue is minute. They don't know it, but they just gave me a bit more than "Liquid Motivation" with that coffee cup.
In the meantime, Ivy Tech employees go back to work today, which is great since I'm trying to help my dad prepare for his first semester there. School starts on the 13th and they have yet to process his financial aid. I called the school for him before the holiday break and they actually had an outgoing message saying that they probably wouldn't be taking any calls until after they returned from holiday break. I truly pity the students that are scrambling to prepare for an education at a college that has not increased their staff to meet the continued growth of the school. For me, it's just another reason to enjoy being a part of the WGU Indiana experience.
